DAY 13 | Philippians 4:6-7

Verse: Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Devotion: I love the promise in this verse. God will guard our hearts and our minds with His peace. It’s equal parts comforting and concerning. On one hand we’re told that God will protect us with peace during anxious times, on the other we’re warned that during anxious times the enemy will try to attack our hearts (how we feel) and our minds (what we know). I’ve found this true in my own life. During times of worry, I often feel like God is far from me and that will cause be to think that God doesn’t care about my struggle. It’s important to remember that the key to unlocking God protective peace during anxious times is gratitude. We go to God in prayer, with gratitude in our hearts, and He’ll protect our hearts and minds with His peace.

Prayer: God we approach you today with gratitude in our hearts. We’re so thankful for all of the blessings you have given us, most especially the loving sacrifice of your son, Jesus Christ. We ask that you’ protect our hearts and minds from the attack of the enemy. Teach us to rest in your perfect peace. Amen.
