Verse: “Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.”
Devotion: This verse begins with a reminder to find rest in God. In a world filled with worries, this is something we don’t practice as often as we should. When we feel overwhelmed, we must remind ourselves that real rest is found in God. The trick here is we have to find it. How do we find it? We remember our hope. We remind ourselves why we have hope. Our hope comes from knowing who our God is. He is stability under our feet and an impenetrable protection all around us. When the world shakes, which it surely will, our God is our salvation.
Prayer: God, Almighty Fortress, our rest is found in you today. Across our country, across the world, shield your people with protection. Make our feet secure, make our path straight, and surround us with your Holy presence. As the world shakes, we stand in hope because we know who you are. Lord, we will not be shaken. Amen.
