Serving Day 1

The Heart of a Servant

Devotional: When we think about serving others, what comes to mind? Maybe it's volunteering at a local shelter, helping a neighbor with yard work, or supporting a community project. But true servanthood goes deeper than occasional acts of kindness. Jesus showed us that authentic service flows from a heart that expects nothing in return. From the very beginning, He was designated as the Lord's chosen servant, setting the ultimate example of what it means to serve others selflessly. His entire approach to service wasn't about recognition or reward - it was about pure, unconditional love for others. This radical concept challenges our natural inclinations. In a world that often asks, 'What's in it for me?' Jesus demonstrates a different way - one that puts others first without counting the cost.

Key Bible Verse: 'For even the Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.' - Mark 10:45

Reflection Question: What motivates you to serve others? Are there times when you find yourself serving with expectations of recognition or return?

Quote: When Jesus said he didn't come to be served, but to serve, it shows us the essential heart of a servant. He says, I don't want anything from you for what I'm going to do. It's a free gift of love.

Prayer: Lord, help me develop a servant's heart like yours. Remove any selfish motivations and teach me to serve others with pure love and genuine care. Amen.
